FLAGLORE

Flag Identifier Quiz

Eight questions, each describing a flag’s design in plain terms — pick the flag it belongs to and see your score at the end.

Question 1 of 8

A red field with one large five-pointed yellow star centered.

How to read a flag description

Vexillologists describe a flag the same way every time: the field (background) color or colors first, then any stripes or divisions and their direction, then whatever sits on top — an emblem, a star, a cross, an animal. Training your eye to break a flag into those layers is the fastest way to tell visually similar designs apart.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of questions does this quiz ask?

Every question is a plain description of a flag's design — its colors, stripes, and central emblem — with no historical or political commentary attached. You're simply matching a described design to the flag it belongs to, the classic vexillology-quiz format.

How many questions are in each round?

Eight, drawn from a larger bank and shuffled into a fresh order each time you start a new set, so replaying doesn't just repeat the same sequence.

Does the quiz cover only national flags?

Mostly, but not only — a couple of questions cover well-known international organisational flags (like a body of stars on blue, or a world map framed by olive branches) alongside national designs, since those are just as much a part of everyday flag-spotting.

I got one wrong — where can I check the design?

The quiz doesn't currently link out mid-round, but the descriptions are written to be checkable: search the flag's design cues (color layout, central emblem) against any flag reference to confirm the answer and see the real image.

Educational tool only. Descriptions cover visual design alone and carry no political or historical commentary on any flag or nation.
